It is hard I swear in the end it makes things easier.

I love this! My mom raised us this way and I just remember how much fun we had growing up. I hope to do the same with my kid.

There’s also a great book called Playful Parenting by Lawrence Cohen that I highly recommend for even more ideas on how to incorporate this style into your parenting practice.

Thank you so much for the book recommendation. Maybe I should interview them for the newsletter!

That would be so cool!

The book How to talk so Little Kids will Listen is another favourite of mine for encouraging playfulness in parents

That book is perhaps one of the greatest parenting books ever!

Great explanation and many helpful suggestions. Playing outside has always been one of my favorites, playing hide and seek, playing softball, riding bikes, going on (scavenger) hunts, going on nature walks. Collecting leaves, acorns, stones, shells.

I agree! I love all of these playing outside ideas that were day to day activities when we were young but not so much anymore!

In the end it does make life easier but I agree it is hard when you are a tired parent.

Thank you for noting how to find playfulness in your parenting life. It is so important!

That was such an important piece for me to add as sometimes I forget the I need playfulness too!
