Love this post! I am so sad that the U. S. doesn't have better work policies in place. I knew paid maternity and paternity leave would be beneficial, but I did not process the extent to which it can be. So surprised that we don't invest in these policies more. Thank you for this super important information!
Such a great post! It is absolutely appalling that the US doesn't have better protections for working parents. I appreciate your commitment to advocating for parental leave, and I hope you have a wonderful maternity leave :)
As a mom who went back at two weeks with my first and four weeks with my second because as a university research faculty or an executive time away was looked down upon and leave was non existent. I traveled for work starting at six weeks and learned to pump and save at so many locations across the country. At my last job, our leadership team put in place a paid six month leave policy for both the mother and the father that also included adoptions and foster care. I was so proud not to make other families go through what I had to.
Wow- kudos on the breastfeeding and post partum schedule! It's so sad that postpartum is just about survival for so many women. I was grateful to take 12 weeks but that first year is so hard.
Thank you for sharing your story. I hear that from so many US mothers. Two weeks is terrible as I know that child care ( if you can find it and afford it) does not even start until 6 weeks.
As a US-based parent, this topic leaves me infuriated. For the well-being of society and the future generation (of taxpayers), we need better parental leave! I could go on and on and on but I think the research has already done a better job of explaining all this.
I wish you a smooth, uneventful pregnancy and labor and a quick recovery. Wishing you and your family all the love and cuddles in the world in the following days and weeks.
Thank you!! I agree and could go on and on too! It is unbelievable that the US is so far behind other countries. It is not could for our children, our mothers, and our families
