I would add that any possible anxiety that a child might experience when told to hurry up might occur if the parent was screaming, threatening harm, berating the child, or shaming them - all extremely problematic parent behaviors that need to be eliminated in any parent-child interaction.
Thank youuu. I never knew there was something called "hurried up syndrome" even when I understand some children are turned into adults when they are supposed to still enjoy their childhood.

I’ve been implementing a technique lately to motivate my kids which is working reasonably well (at least on the older one). I break what they need to do in steps with short keywords, ie step 1 clothes step 2 shoes step 3 backpacks. I tell her the steps and then ask her to repeat what the steps are. It’s not perfect but makes me feel less frazzled and she buys on better.

Good lord. We need to get back to Winnecott and stop obsessing about our kids. We are making them sick with our neuroses.
